Destination Science came to 454 Creative in need of a new website that would better reflect the Destination Science brand and attract new parents and kids to their site.

Overview

Destination Science is a nationwide fun and science focused summer camp for curious kids ages 5-11. Their mission is to get kids excited about science while helping them build great life skills.

Destination Science came to 454 Creative in need of a website that would better reflect the Destination Science brand and attract parents and kids to their camps. After meeting with Kathy Heraghty, one of the three founding directors at Destination Science, we knew this was a great match, given our shared love for kids and education.

Process

In December 2013, 454 Creative began developing a new website for Destination Science, set to launch before camp registration opened in March, that addressed design and functionality issues on the existing site. With a tight timeline, our team got to work establishing site architecture, a website style guide, Photoshop design comps, and set a plan for execution. 454 Creative developed the new site on Wordpress, a proven and effective Content Management System (CMS) using Responsive Design for optimal viewing on all modern devices. For the camp registration portal, 454 Creative worked closely with Destination Science’s internal development team to implement an updated registration process. Our team enjoyed this project immensely utilizing custom animations, a bold color palette, and wild features that captured Destination Science’s brand.

DestinationScience.org launched in March of 2014 and received high praise from parents and visitors, but the launch of the new site was just the beginning of our relationship. Our team continues to work closely with Destination Science to create email campaigns, set up and monitor Google AdWords campaigns, provide marketing design assets, manage their Social Media accounts, provide photography at camps, and share ongoing strategy and coaching for continued success.

Measure of Success

Since December 2013, we’ve been working closely with Destination Science to establish goals, Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), and metrics of success throughout each camp season. Year over year, we have seen increased page visits and registrations on destinationscience.org, increased Social Media interaction, and significant growth in their brand reach. Through our combined efforts with the team at Destination Science, we’re hitting our goals, which means more and more kids get to experience camp at Destination Science.

The Destination Science teams are experts at bringing science to life and helping kids understand and apply fundamental scientific concepts while having a ton of fun…we know, we’ve been to camp!
