Volvo Construction Equipment and Sales is a leading, customer-focused dealer of construction equipment & related services in California, but their outdated website wasn't serving their customers. An outdated user interface wasn't mobile friendly, which frustrated customers, and a cumbersome content management system meant staff members had a hard time making content updates.
454 Creative hosted a website roadmap meeting with the team at VCES to understand their needs and explore ways to maximize their website for the customer journey. During this discovery exercise, we learned they needed a way to integrate equipment data directly from Volvo North America, so our team developed a custom API for Volvo equipment, so data could flow seamlessly into WordPress. It also became clear that data management could be simplified if we shared equipment between the sales and rental modules, so the VCES team could enter the equipment information once, and then indicate if it was available both for sales and for rent.
Additionally, we leveraged WordPress to integrate a dealer locator that can geo-locate a users location and advise them of branch nearest them. We also included an event module to promote upcoming trade shows and demonstrations, as well as integrating outbound links to purchase used equipment and apply for credit applications.
Lastly, we worked with the Volvo North America brand and style guide to ensure the whole site reflected Volvo's brand, recognized world-wide as a leader in safety, quality and clean, scandenavian design.
