How We Modernized BiblicalTraining's Brand Identity to Inspire Deeper Engagement

Over three months, 454 Creative partnered with BiblicalTraining to evolve their brand identity and design system. They approached us with a clear challenge: their existing visual presence no longer matched the scale or impact of their organization. Our goal was to create a cohesive brand expression that reflected their values, connected with their audience, and elevated their presence across every touchpoint.

We modernized BiblicalTraining’s logo to move away from traditional, literal symbols, giving it a more meaningful and contemporary feel. The updated color palette introduces warmth and openness, while simplified typography improves clarity and consistency across touchpoints. To support long-term growth, we also built a flexible visual system and brand guidelines, making it easy for the team to apply the new identity across digital and print platforms.

 

Who is BiblicalTraining?

BiblicalTraining is a nonprofit Christian education organization serving over one million users annually in more than 190 countries. Their mission is to address the growing lack of biblical literacy in the church by providing world-class theological training entirely free of charge.

 

The Challenge: A dated identity that didn’t reflect a global, modern mission

When BiblicalTraining approached 454 Creative, their visual identity no longer reflected their evolving brand or appealed to younger audiences. The organization wanted to move away from its existing tree-based logo and embrace a more modern, abstract symbol. One that carried a deeper meaning without relying on overtly religious or cliché imagery such as crosses, Bibles, or hearts. The visual tone also needed to evolve. The prior color palette leaned too dark and heavy, which didn’t convey the approachability or openness that BiblicalTraining wanted to represent. The team recognized the need to unify how their brand showed up, from logo and typography to tone and visual storytelling.

 

The Solution and Our Approach: Building a brand that bridges tradition and modern accessibility

Discovery & Strategy:

We began with an in-depth brand roadmap to uncover their mission, target audience, and long-term vision. Through stakeholder interviews and competitor research, we identified the attributes that truly define BiblicalTraining. These insights became the foundation of the brand’s new creative direction.

Design Development:

Our design team then explored multiple visual directions, refining logo concepts, color palettes, typography, iconography, and imagery. We created a cohesive design system that balances creativity with functionality and ensures brand consistency across every medium.

Brand Guidelines for Longevity:

To support long-term brand management alongside this project, we also developed a brand style guide to help their internal team maintain quality and consistency.
