Ruby’s Diner has been a SoCal staple since 1982 serving up hamburgers, hot dogs, shakes, and malts to the masses. From the beginning, Ruby’s paired their delicious all-American cuisine with a throwback to a classic 1940’s malt shop. Over the years, their business has grown and spread throughout the U.S., but their fun, retro, and flirty look with Ruby at the center has remained.
Although Ruby’s Diner has a nostalgic look, they are committed to staying up-to-date with technology and how technology is integrated with their brand. After recognizing that their website had become outdated, performing poorly on phones and tablets, the Ruby’s team partnered with us to build a new website. In working with Sr. Director of Marketing, Stacy Lee, we built an experience that better communicates and connects with their patrons on a platform that is modern with responsive design.
During the project, we worked closely with Lee to help execute Ruby’s vision for the new site. It was extremely important to her that we select the right typography & photography to capture the vibrant look of Ruby’s Diner in digital form. As the vision came together, our team created new website architecture, website wireframes, and interactive design prototypes to ensure that Ruby’s Diner’s online presence embodied the style, feeling, and experience of visiting a restaurant in person.
Once the designs were in place, we coded a fully custom website within Wordpress CMS using responsive design. The site features a “Find Your Location” map integrated with Google Maps that geo-targets your location when visiting the website, online forms using one of our favorite form builders, Wufoo, a custom Instagram feed integration, and an overall fresh & fun look.
With the launch of the new website in February 2017, Ruby’s has already seen an increase in organic website traffic and an increase in the average time on site along with a decreased bounce rate.
Our team has grown up eating at Ruby’s Diner and it holds a special place in our hearts. Because of this (and our love for hamburgers), we loved working with a brand we admire and a team that seeks to create a positive experience accompanied by delicious food for the community. Keep up the good work, Ruby’s! We’ll see you soon for lunch.
